Students should bring their own sewing machine if they have one. The school has three machines for those without their own to use. SUPPLIES:
Rubbermaid plastic Box or Sewing Basket to carry supplies
One pack each: hand sewing needles & repair needles
straight pins with colored ball tops & sewing shears
pin cushion & thimble to fit middle finger of dominant hand
hem gauge & tailor’s chalk & Pencil & eraser & seam ripper

Fabric: Students will choose a variety of contrasting or matching fabric in an assortment of colors they like. The easiest way is to buy “fat quarters”, enough for two to three yards. OR students may bring two to three accumulative yards of fabric scraps (from home, remnants bin, ¼ to 1/3 yard of fabric off the bolt)
Later in the class students will need two to three yards of lining fabric (amount depends on final size of comforter—after first class, students will know how much to purchase). Lining can be a sheet, flannel fabric, utility cloth (ornasburg), muslin, or any type of fabric the student chooses. (No heavy weights)
They may also need medium to lightweight fabric scraps for embellishments. Purchase or rummage around the house after class starts as students need time to brainstorm. Also, students will decide during the first few classes upon what other embellishments they will need. Here are some suggestions (let your imagination soar):
Funky yarn, fringe, beads, buttons, old keys, etc.
